Principal Engineer (0427)

dnata Travel Group, part of the Emirates Group, includes the brands of Gold Medal, Netflights, Travelbag, Travel Republic, and Sunmaster. These brands are based at offices across the UK including Preston (Leyland), Kingston-upon-Thames, Chester and Halifax.

We are now recruiting for a technology and user experience driven Principal Engineer for a number of dnata B2C brands.  In this role you will own all technical aspects of web based user interface development, practices and technologies for the given brands.  As Principal Engineer you will be an expert in browser and device capabilities, client side frameworks and happy to lead and guide members of the team.  A good communicator, with the ability to interface with non-technical teams and influence UX and design decisions.  Experienced at working within a fast paced, agile environment and comfortable with cross functional team structures.

To be considered for this role, we need you to have the following skills, experience and qualifications:

 Significant of web development experience.

  • .Net Core
  • Azure Cloud Skills
  • C#
  • Rest API’s
  • .Net 4.0
  • Expert in CSS, across all major versions.
  • Expert in HTML, across all major versions.
  • React JS.
  • Cross browser and device quirks. Good understanding of browser version capabilities. 
  • Optimising web page delivery for speed and user experience. Understanding of performance techniques: bundling, delayed asset loading and CDN techniques.
  • A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, networking, browser fundamentals, javascript.
  • Experience with workflows that support continuous delivery (agile, CI/CD, feature flags etc).
  • Working within an agile environment.
  • Source control including GIT and Mercurial.

 Desirable Experience: 

  • Google Material Design.
  • Experience of web development within an enterprise level company.
  • Experience of browser based monitoring/replay tools.
