We are now recruiting for a technology-driven Solution Architect, to be the primary technical contact for one, or more, projects or product roadmaps. The Solution Architect will be joining a smart, experienced, fast-moving and rapidly growing team, where you will be responsible for the design and architecture of eCommerce-based technology solutions for our brands.

The Solution Architect will work alongside software delivery and project teams, to help build and integrate proprietary technology that can be deployed on a global scale. Here you will guide the development leads and technology partners so that they both contribute towards, and buy into, the architecture.

Accountabilities -

  • Reporting to the Chief Architect, you will help to define and grow the blueprint architecture for group solutions; developing simple, elegant solutions through several years of experience in software development and architecture
  • Supporting a major and high profile programme of work, you will need to be able to work collaboratively as part of a project team and work well under pressure
  • Providing guidance and mentoring to the wider team of software developers and QA staff
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of technology stacks and development practices as well as strong domain and application knowledge in eCommerce and/or B2B sectors
  • Work effectively with stakeholders and clients whilst displaying a good knowledge of business design
  • Offer expertise in system integration and development, and application architecture
  • Demonstrate broad solution design skills/knowledge with extensive application design, through prior experience on eCommerce projects

Qualifications/Experience

  • 5+ years in a software development background, ideally in a leadership/guidance/mentorship capacity to a wider team of QA’s and Developers
  • 2+ years working in a solutions architect or equivalent role
  • In-depth knowledge of technology stacks and development practices as a solution architect
  • Strong domain and application knowledge in eCommerce and/or B2B sectors
  • Prior experience as an Architect working with stakeholders and clients, possessing a good knowledge of business design
  • Strong background in system integration and development with proven expertise in application architecture
  • Broad solution design experience with extensive application design, with experience gained on many eCommerce projects

Technical experience:

  • SOLID code principles
  • Architectural patterns such as SOA, Microservices, ESB
  • Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
  • Strong experience in visual design tools and methodologies to create architectural blueprints
  • oWASP Security Principles and associated best practices for delivering secure software solutions
  • Solid analytical skills and appreciation of technical risk
  • Experienced in automated testing and CI/CD (Continuous Integration & Deployment e.g. Azure Devops, Jenkins, TeamCity, Go-CD & Octopus Deploy)
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform)
  • Networking fundamentals - protocols, network security, NLB,
  • Containers and server-less architecture
  • Kubernetes & container orchestration technologies
  • Linux, .NET Core
  • Parallel programming
  • Caching strategies & performance tuning
  • Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools
  • API Management
  • IDP’s
  • NOSQL stores
  • IIS, HTTP, Windows & Web Services, Web API, Web sockets, Web farms, Load balancing etc.

Desirable Experience:

  • Worked on large scale travel websites
  • Experience of software development within the travel industry
  • Understanding of MS SQL/Mongo Query Plans
  • ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) e.g. SSIS
  • Can design and normalise databases
