We’re now recruiting for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join us at our bright, modern office in Leyland (Lancashire).

In this role, you’ll work both independently and collaboratively to help design and implement high quality, complex software solutions using best development practices.

Our engineering team is responsible for the growth and evolution of an in-house developed travel platform which is being developed and rolled out across multiple our brands globally.

You’ll be joining a smart, experienced, fast-moving team who continue to explore new technologies, tools & techniques to both grow this global platform and service the growing needs of our business that the platform supports.

As a Senior Engineer, you will have a proven strong software development background and will help guide and mentor the wider team of software developers and QA staff in UK, offshore teams, infrastructure and architecture teams, to deliver the product roadmap and assist in supporting projects and backlogs. You will be an effective communicator able to understand, solve and help educate our teams in the technical aspects related to your specialisms.  

We’re looking for someone who can lead, develop, promote, coach and motivate best practices within the team to ensure that performance and quality standards are met throughout the software development lifecycle.  You should have a pragmatic approach to adapting software delivery to ensure the most cost-effective outcome, together with excellent client-facing skills to form great relationships across the business.

You should have strong experience of working on multi-tier, high volume, transactional systems and a thorough understanding of the related challenges and how to navigate them as well as in-depth knowledge of key technology theories and architectures.

This is a hybrid role, based 3 days a week at our Leyland office and 2 days working remotely.

To be considered for this role, we need you to have the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  • Expert in C# and experience in other languages such as F#, Java, Golang etc.
  • Expert in SOLID coding principles
  • Experience of development against 3rd party .Net libraries using a package repository e.g. NuGet
  • Experience of oWASP Security Principles (DevSecOps is a plus)
  • Experience of event sourcing and event-driven microservice architectures at scale (e.g. Rabbit MQ, MSMQ, EventHub, Kafka)
  • An understanding of API management, routing, authentication and authorisation.
  • Experience of architectural patterns such as SOA, orchestration & federation, microservices
  • Working within an agile environment.
  • Experience of Observability and Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools such as DataDog.
  • Experience of hybrid multi-cloud hosting and deployment, particularly Azure (Repos, DevOps, Pipelines.

Desirable

  • Experience of software development within the travel industry
