dnata Travel Group, part of the Emirates Group, includes the brands of Gold Medal, Netflights, Travelbag, Travel Republic, and Sunmaster. These brands are based at offices across the UK including Preston (Leyland), Kingston-upon-Thames, Chester and Halifax.

We are now recruiting for a Head of People Development who will be tasked with leading the People Development function for dnata Travel Europe to maximise potential within the business and ensure there is provision of learning and development plans which align to the business strategy. The successful applicant will partner with senior business leaders to agree the development plans for their respective business areas and identify and deliver development solutions to drive the business to achieve not only the short to medium term business plans, but to plan for the longer-term benefit of the business.

Accountabilities:

People Development Strategy:  define, lead and deliver the strategy, considering the infrastructure and resources required.  As a member of the senior People & Culture team provide recommendations and expertise to the Chief People Officer which directs and influences our development programmes to ensure business requirements are met.

Business Partnering: build relationships and influence key business stakeholders at senior and executive level to formulate and support learning and development strategies to meet organisational growth plans. Partner with business heads to identify specific areas for improvement/development where learning expertise is required. Work with business leaders to devise the succession planning programme within agreed timescales, adapting the plan accordingly; ensure future ‘Stars’ have exposure within the business to prepare them for future career opportunities as appropriate

People Development: Create a cohesive environment by providing leadership that engages all staff, including the clear establishment of key performance expectations and indicators, coaching, performance management, career development, reward and recognition, hiring, and positive employee morale.

Courseware: as the People Development owner, interpret business requirements; plan and curate a range of development programmes that meet the diverse nature of the business.  Ensure the approach is blended with options for classroom, e-learning, coaching and mentoring whilst demonstrating a sound understanding of development course design and relevant theories. Actively promote apprenticeships as a route to study and ensure the apprenticeship levy is drawn down to achieve maximum ROI. Drive engagement to the LMS, curate relevant content and monitor results.

Experience:

  • Several years’ Learning and Development experience operating at a senior level, a significant amount of which is at Leadership level
  • Current knowledge and experience of training models, theories, practices and methodologies.
  • An excellent track record of building relationships within a matrixed environment and ability to influence business partners and key stakeholders
  • Experience of the Apprenticeship levy and its application
  • Deep understanding of managing Learning Management Systems and integration of SCORM content.
  • Experience of setting up DE&I programmes would be advantageous

Qualification:

  • Relevant Degree and/or FCIPD or MCIPD qualified (desired).
  • Relevant Coaching qualification (desired)
  • NLP Pracitioner (desired)
  • Lumina Psychometric Practitioner (desired)

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Extensive experience of leading Learning and Development teams with full accountability for the Learning and Development strategy including DE&I.
  • Extensive experience of partnering with senior level business partners to identify and deliver training solutions to deliver business strategies
  • Act as a Thought Leader to the business to drive the best outputs from a professional and personal perspective
  • Able to present recommendations, strategic plans and budgets up to and including Executive level
  • Able to drive cross functional projects across a variety of business areas and in managing diverse and specialised learning and development requirements across a multinational and multi cultural organisation
  • Experience in partnering with Group-wide Learning and Development teams to identify synergies and integrated development programmes which will bring benefits to dnata Travel Europe
  • Expertise in identifying learning technologies which meet business requirements and deliver a positive ROI
