We are recruiting for a talented Content Editor with strong SEO knowledge to join us in Kingston-upon-Thames, covering a period of maternity leave for 7 months.  

In this role, you will work alongside key business stakeholders and the SEO team to implement and further develop a content vision and strategy for Travelbag. This will include management of content production as well as extensive content writing and editing for both online and offline publication. 

Job Accountabilities 

  • Act as the champion of the Travelbag style guide and be a key resource for all queries and questions in relation to tone of voice. 
  • Refine a workflow strategy to optimise the copy-editing and proofreading process. 
  • Oversee scheduling for the content team, while managing your own daily and weekly content workload.
  • Edit content within our content management systems, publishing it onto our website.  
  • Edit copy for consistency, style, figures, grammar and punctuation. 
  • Support the marketing and destination product teams in ensuring quality standards across the teams.  
  • Use SEO practices to optimise articles and increase their visibility in search.  
  • Proactively support commercial efforts, including surfacing key research content to support marketing, proofing marketing and campaign copy and ad hoc pieces produced by the marketing team.
  • Write copy for print marketing collateral, including articles and editorials. 
  • Drive content process improvements – contributing ideas and supporting their execution. 
  • Work on a broad variety of content, sometimes being required to produce an SEO campaign with limited time and budget. 
  • Management of the content team, freelancers and agencies 

 To be considered for this role, we need you to have the following skills, experience and qualifications:  

  • Previous experience working in travel editorial content. 
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • People management experience - a track record of mentoring and providing guidance.  
  • Previous experience editing and proofreading in an online B2C English-language environment. 
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work to tight and multiple deadlines, while maintaining quality control processes, accuracy and style.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail. 
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and HTML 
  • Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems (e.g. Umbraco) 
  • Able to write creative copy both for large pieces of content and smaller texts. 
  • A collaborative approach.
  • Highly organised with solid time management skills.
  • Strong SEO knowledge.
  • Able to work with a mixture of people from managers, immediate team, and third-party suppliers. 
  • Comfortable making judgement calls and problem-solving for the team as/where needed. 
  • Able to find, negotiate with and manage local resources.  
  • Resilient and calm under pressure.

This is a hybrid role, working 3 days in our Kingston office and 2 days remotely each week.
