Technical Product Owner

We’re on the lookout for an experienced Technical Product Owner (TPO) who will collaborate with Product Management, Delivery Management and Engineering, organising and prioritising team backlogs with work spread across feature, function, nonfunctional (NFR), BAU, Technical Debt, spikes and ceremonies. 

As TPO you will hold end to end responsibility for eliciting, analysing, validating, specifying, verifying, and managing business requirements.

The TPO will typically own a quarterly roadmap after completion of the PI planning phase, supporting the team(s), maintaining acceptance criteria on items into the roadmap, ensuring focus on current and future iterations and preparing backlogs for subsequent iterations.

The dnata Travel engineering team are responsible for the growth and evolution of an inhouse developed travel platform which is being developed and rolled out across multiple brands, departments and teams across the globe within the dnata Travel group.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Analyse the end-to-end requirement, understanding the effect of any requested change from a business and technical viewpoint
  • To take over ownership of the backlog post the PI planning sessions ensuring the team always has an adequate amount of prior prepared stories to work on
  • Prepare and facilitate pre-sprint activities such as backlog grooming and 3-amigo sessions
  • Ensures Service Desk items are analysed and prioritised into a backlog for the IT teams to deliver within the allocated team capacity
  • Deliver clear, concise and accurate user stories and acceptance criteria detailing customer or user interactions, which result in a clear design brief
  • Ensures technical debt and NFR’s are captured, refined, and prioritised across all sprints
  • Captures additional BAU, Ceremony, and Spike activities, and works with Delivery Management to incorporate into team backlogs, within the boundaries of available capacity
  • Assist in the preparation of system demo’s per iteration
  • Support preparation and delivery of PI demo’s to stakeholder group, via ‘Inspect & Adapt’ workshops
  • Maintain the quality and integrity of features within their technical and team boundaries, ensuring identification and contribution to risks and dependencies
  • Attends and contributes to key Product Management meetings, in particular PI Planning
  • Defines metrics to measure the success and performance of prioritised work, ensuring any further BAU iterations can be proposed and prioritised accordingly within the boundaries of available capacity
  • Participates in establishing and growing a community of Technical Product Owners, building an identity for the role, focus upon collaboration, and identifying opportunities for improvement and growth
  • Analyse prioritised Service Desk / BAU barriers issues and work with Product
  • Management to prioritise in order to include them to sprints
  • Working with your team(s) to identify and capture IT team driven innovation ideas to get closer to the business, consolidating across peer group for playback up to TPM / TPO and Product Management communities

 

Experience:

  • For this role you have strong proven experience working in Agile Delivery, either as a Business Analysis or Technical Product Owner, preferably within a Scaled Agile Framework
  • Experience of leading analysis in retail ecommerce Travel industry experience

 

Skills and Knowledge: 

  • Business acumen and strategic thinking
  • Understanding of business analysis principles, processes and techniques
  • Ability to think analytically, solve problems to complex business processes, and document results
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, concise manner across functional and technical departments
  • Ability to develop and prepare process models, functional specifications, and technical requirements
  • The candidate must be process-oriented with sound judgment, attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through including the flexibility to perform in an ever-changing work environment
  • The candidate must be energetic, driven and committed to project success while working under tight time constraints and pressure
  • The ability to perform industry research to clarify, define, or satisfy technology or business process issues
