dnata Travel, part of the Emirates Group, includes the brands of Gold Medal, Travel 2, Netflights, Travelbag, Travel Republic and Sunmaster. These brands are based at offices across the UK including London, Kingston-upon-Thames, Chester, Preston, Halifax and Glasgow.

We are now recruiting for a Head of Finance based in our Kingston office, to lead the Travel Republic finance team of 10, produce monthly management accounts and deliver detailed forecasts, budgets and monthly variance analysis.

The Head of Finance will also deliver clear reporting and commentary to senior management to support financial decision making, and will provide challenge and support to the management team to help implement cost control and revenue generation initiatives across the business.


Business Partnering

  • Facilitate the production of regular forecasts and maintain risks and opps schedules to keep management and group appraised of brand financial performance
  • Produce annual budget and 3 year plan (MTP) to provide guidance on the future profitability of the business
  • Produce short term and long term cash flow forecasts, ensuring that cash is managed effectively at all times
  • Critically review and appraise business case decisions to ensure they deliver an acceptable return on investment and payback period
  • Drive profitability improvement through challenging business efficiency, evaluating opportunities to reduce spend and identifying commercial opportunities
  • Prepare financial scenarios and other ad hoc analysis as required
  • Communicate financial reporting and analysis in a clear and succinct way, tailored for relevant audiences, both finance and non-finance

Reporting, Accounting & Control

  • Prepare monthly management accounts with variance analysis and insightful commentary against budget, forecast and prior year
  • Manage the businesses cash balances across all currencies and prepare monthly comparisons of cash actuals vs forecast
  • Accurately hedge forward travel provider currency requirements, ensuring that hedge effectiveness measures can be satisfied
  • Manage the audit process for Travel Republic and work closely with the FD Reporting and Control to deliver requirements for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure standardised balance sheet reconciliations are robustly maintained and all risks and opportunities flagged on a timely basis and reported to the Commercial FD
  • Ensure that Travel Republic adheres to the policies and procedures as set out in the Group Companies Financial Reporting Manual
  • Support the preparation of the annual statutory accounts, ensuring that they reconcile back to the annual management accounts
  • Work with the FD Reporting and Control and Commercial FD to embed a robust control environment and to promote a risk aware culture across the business
  • Ensure that AP and AR are processed efficiently, suppliers are paid accurately and on time and credit control of customer receivables is robustly managed
  • Support the implementation of projects aimed at improving the operating efficiency of the finance department


  • Play an integral role within the Travel Republic management team, providing input on a range of business issues
  • Establish a culture of learning and continuous improvement across the finance team, challenge the status quo and look for ways to do things better and more efficiently
  • Provide leadership, individual and team development, instilling and driving a high performance culture
  • Manage and motivate a team of 4 direct reports to achieve the team’s goals and support individual career progression
  • A key member of the dnata Travel Europe Senior Finance team

Qualifications / Skills / Experience / Knowledge:


Accounting Qualification with 3+ years Post Qualified Experience


Several years’ experience in financial roles, ideally with a travel industry background.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of accounting standards and financial control frameworks
  • Strategic thinker with ability to visualise opportunities and improve business processes
  • Proven ability to deliver high quality management information
  • Knowledge of the travel industry regulatory rules and environment
  • Leadership capabilities with excellent influence and negotiating skills
  • Numerate and analytical thinker, self-motivated and solution orientated
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Commercially astute with the ability to identify opportunities to improve revenue and profits
  • Great attention to detail
  • Excellent communicator, comfortable with communicating at all levels
  • Strong interpersonal and team management skills
  • Able to work in a team environment and autonomously
